FT. Thomas Veterinarian Services

Our experienced team is devoted to providing your furry family members with the best possible medical care, as well as all of the loving attention that they deserve!
Contact us today either by phone or through our website to schedule an appointment for your pet.

Below is a list of the services FTAH is equipped to provide.

Boarding

Some vaccinations require a period of time to be effective, so pets boarding with us must have an exam and vaccinations done prior to boarding.

Please bring your pet’s own food to avoid stomach upsets. If your pet requires oral or injectable medications while staying with us, a daily medication administration fee may be added to the boarding cost.

We are fully equipped to provide toys, treats, blankets, bowls and leashes for your pet during their stay, however, if you would like to bring their own items, please do so.

Our boarding spaces tend to fill up quickly, especially during holidays, so please contact us as soon as you know that our boarding services will be needed.

Dental Care

Dental care is vital to the overall health of any animal, so Ft. Thomas Animal Hospital is a strong advocate of preventative dental care for all of our patients. Certain dental diseases can lead to issues with your pet's heart, liver and kidneys, and can also flood their body and bloodstream with harmful bacteria.

There are many ways that you can improve your pet's dental hygiene at home, including: regularly brushing your pet's teeth, offering dental chews, providing dental diets, and bringing your pet in for regular yearly examinations. Our doctors routinely conduct full oral examinations during each annual well exam, and will suggest dental cleanings when needed. We provide professional, thorough cleanings, including the area beneath the gums that you are unable to see or access at home.

If your pet has visible tartar build-up, stained teeth, bad breath, or is suddenly having difficulty eating, these could all be signs of dental disease. Call our office to schedule your pet's dental cleaning.

Preventative Care

The most important pet care service that we provide is disease prevention. Regular yearly exams and vaccinations are vital to your pet's overall health. Annual examinations allow us to establish a baseline for your pet's health so that if health conditions do arise, we are able to more quickly identify these concerns. FTAH recommends a comprehensive examination every 12 months (even if your pet appears to be healthy) and a regular vaccination schedule.

Laser Therapy

Class IV lasers are currently being utilized in veterinary medicine for a wide variety of medical conditions. Most commonly, laser therapy helps to reduce inflammation and swelling, promote wound healing, and assist with pain management. If your pet has any of the following conditions, please call our office today to discuss a laser therapy appointment.

  • Anal Gland Infections
  • Acute and Chronic Ear Infections
  • Gum Disease
  • Skin wounds caused by abscesses, lick granulomas and hot spots
  • Acute and Chronic Neck/Back pain
  • Muscle/ligament/tendon injuries
  • Arthritis or degenerative joint diseases like hip dysplasia
  • Fractures
  • Post surgical pain, healing and rehabilitation
  • Certain GI, urinary and respiratory conditions

Microchipping

1 in 3 pets go missing and without a microchip, 90% of those pets never return home. FTAH uses the HomeAgain brand of pet microchips to ensure that your pet has the best chance of finding their way home.

A pet microchip is the size of a grain of rice and goes beneath your pet’s skin much like a vaccination.  This microchip can never be removed or become impossible to read.  Not only will we microchip your pet, but we will also register their microchip with your contact information.

Almost all veterinary clinics, shelters, hospitals and ERs are equipped with microchip scanners.

We are always available if you experience any problems with your medication or have any questions after you return home.

Senior Care

Regular wellness visits are important for every stage of your pet’s life, and very important for pets getting up in years.

Pets age faster than people and can be considered “seniors” at around 7 years of age. Just as our health care needs change as we age, your pet’s health care needs also change. Nutrition, exercise, and many aspects of your pet’s daily routine can change as your pet ages.

Older pets make wonderful companions, and thanks to advances in veterinary medicine, pets are living longer than ever. We provide "senior care" consulting to help ensure that your pet is safe and happy throughout the “golden years".

Puppy & Kitten Care

Do you have a new puppy or kitten? Congratulations! What a wonderful and adorable addition to your family. We would love to meet your new furry friend, and start you off with the right health plan to keep him/her healthy and happy!

Your first visit will include: Full “nose-to-tail” physical examination. Consultation on nutrition, training, grooming. Tips for introducing your new pet to other pets and family members. Vaccine and parasite planning and schedule. Spay/Neuter consultation.

We recommend scheduling an appointment for your new pet as soon as possible. Please bring any medical records and pet history.

Wellness Exams

Your pet ages 5-7 years for every 1 of our years. Can you imagine if we waited 5-7 years to visit our doctor?

That is why it is important for your pet to have a yearly wellness exam. This could avoid diseases or problems before they can become serious.

Schedule an appointment today so we can thoroughly examine your pet to ensure they are healthy and happy.
